Study in Iceland

Climate: Iceland is cold, but not as cold as might be expected because of the passing warm waters of the Gulf Stream, which regulate the climate. The summer temperatures in Reykjav? range from 41?F at night to as high as 77?F during the day.

Language:
Icelandic is one of the Nordic languages, which are a subgroup of the Germanic languages. Germanic languages are traditionally divided into North Germanic, i.e. the Nordic languages, West Germanic, i.e. High and Low German including Dutch-Flemish, English and Frisian, and East Germanic, i.e. Gothic, which is now dead.

Currency:
The kr?a, or in plural form kr?ur , is the official currency used in Iceland. Often denoted by ISK, the name kr?a means "crown" - a meaning analogous to the name of several other Nordic currencies.

Population:
The population of Iceland was estimated as 276,365 in July of 2000, with a slow growth rate of 0.57 percent. Iceland is the most sparsely populated country in Europe, with an average of 3 inhabitants per square kilometer.

Capital City:
Reykjav? is the capital and largest city of Iceland. Its latitude at 64?08' N makes it the world's northernmost capital of a sovereign state.
