Curtin University has partnered with St Hilda’s Anglican School for Girls to help nurture the next generation of entrepreneurs and build innovation into the School’s curriculum and learning spaces.
As part of Curtin’s Innovative School Consortium, the alliance will see the University and St Hilda’s explore collaborative opportunities across the student transition experience as well as research and innovation projects.
Curtin will also provide support and advice to St Hilda’s staff on professional development, as well as develop new projects and provide advice on curricula that promotes and embeds ESSTEAM approaches to learning.
Curtin Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic Professor Jill Downie said the partnership, cemented with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding, was a great opportunity for both institutions to work together on developing exciting new ways of driving innovation.
“Curtin is proud to partner with St Hilda’s and work with its students, teachers and senior staff to focus on innovation, entrepreneurship and future-ready capabilities,” Professor Downie said.
“We are looking forward to helping develop the next generation of leaders through creating new learning experiences and environments for students and fostering join research and engagement projects which will have real-world impact.”
As a key part of the partnership, Curtin will share its expertise and work with St Hilda’s in creating a new and dynamic ESSTEAM innovation hub on its Mosman Park campus. This learning space will enhance student learning outcomes by providing places to safely experiment, explore and build awareness of how to integrate students’ STEAM learning into an entrepreneurial framework.
St Hilda’s Principal Fiona Johnston said the School was looking forward to a rich and rewarding partnership with Curtin.
“This alliance is just another way St Hilda’s is working to meet the ongoing needs of our changing society and boost the educational outcomes for our students,” Ms Johnston said.
“Through this collaboration with Curtin, we will be able to provide our students with every opportunity to help prepare them for both their tertiary studies and the real world, as well as ensure our educators are always at the forefront of teaching.”
