Curtin University is celebrating two major milestones– achieving a QS Five Stars Plus rating, the highest available for a tertiary institution and jumping into the world’s top 200 in the QS World University Rankings (QSWUR) 2022.
Curtin is only one of three universities in Australia to achieve the QS Five Stars Plus rating
The result followed a comprehensive evaluation by QS across a range of areas including research, employability, teaching, facilities, internationalisation, inclusiveness and innovation. A Five Stars Plus institution must achieve five stars across all categories.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Hayne said the rating confirms Curtin’s excellence, agility, and resilience even in times of extraordinary change and uncertainty.
“Our performance in this QS assessment shows Curtin’s ever-growing reputation for delivering the highest standards of teaching and learning to ensure all students achieve their potential and maximise opportunities during their time at university,” Professor Hayne said.
Curtin also rose 23 places from last year to be ranked 194th globally, and 11th in Australia in the prestigious QSWUR which evaluates the world’s top 1300 universities based on metrics of academic reputation, employer reputation, research performance and internationalisation.
Professor Hayne said Curtin’s sustained climb since 2006 is underpinned by the University’s commitment to excellence in research, teaching and impactful industry engagement. It also highlights the importance of Curtin’s international footprint in Singapore, Malaysia, Dubai, and Mauritius.
“This outstanding result cements Curtin among the world’s top institutions and demonstrates the scale of global impact the University has through our world-class teaching and research,” Professor Hayne said.
“It’s extremely encouraging to see Curtin making significant strides in these global rankings and we can be especially proud of our research impact results- which now place us well within the world’s top one percent of universities.
“Curtin strives to provide a world-class and industry-relevant learning experience for our students who come from across the nation and across the globe. So it is particularly pleasing to see our substantial rise in employer recognition which acknowledges the high-quality of our graduates as does our ranking as Western Australia’s top university for graduate full-time employment and starting salary in the 2021 Good Universities Guide.
“Both our QS Five Stars Plus rating and QS World Ranking results are clear indicators of Curtin’s ability to harness our strengths as a global and innovative institution.”
The results are released by global higher education analysts QS Quacquarelli Symonds.
