A medical doctor with an interest in artificial intelligence, who is also a University of Adelaide alum, has been awarded one of the prestigious 2024 General Sir John Monash Scholarships.
Alyssa Pradhan is among 16 recipients selected nationally in this year’s cohort of John Monash Scholars. The Scholarships are among the most important postgraduate scholarships in Australia and are awarded to outstanding students with leadership potential who wish to study overseas.
A doctor undertaking advanced training in infectious diseases, Alyssa is interested in the application of machine learning and artificial intelligence in medicine and was named the Australian Universities John Monash Scholar.
“My goal is to combine my medical expertise in infectious diseases, my breadth of experience working with a diverse range of Australian communities and my skills in coding and data analysis to develop clinical decision support programs that improve healthcare safety and equity, including for vulnerable patients,” she said.
Alyssa completed her degree in medicine at the University of Adelaide in 2017, receiving the Sir Trent Champion De Crespigny Memorial Prize for the highest mark in Clinical Examination.
Alyssa intends to study for a PhD in Biomedical Informatics at Harvard University.
