Dr Mark Dunick recently spent three months in Scotland through the EARTH scholarship programme, applications are now open for 2024.
In early 2023, Dr Mark Dunick spent three months in Scotland thanks to an opportunity provided by the EARTH scholarship programme. He had this to say about the experience:
“The EARTH Scholarship was a great experience which combines individual research and group work. We started with a two-week programme where all the EARTH scholarship participants travelled as a group to visit several Scottish Universities and research institutions. Our group was made up of international EARTH scholars from South Africa, India, Mexico, and the United States and several European countries. We were joined by an international group of students enrolled in Scottish PhD programmes for the two-week tour of Scotland where we heard about and in some cases participated in a wide range of environmental research projects from a range of academic disciplines before splitting up to do our individual research projects at Scottish Universities for a few months.
I was based at the University of Stirling, which provided me with office space, and access to library facilities and the ability to take part in several academic seminars. I was also able to take part in conferences and other events in Glasgow and Edinburgh, as well as do a research trip to England. As the other EARTH scholars I had met were based all over Scotland I had a network of friends and academic contacts everywhere I went in Scotland. I recommend this scholarship to anyone interested in environmental justice”.
Applications for the 2024 EARTH scholarship are open until November 1 2023, you can apply for the scholarship here.
