The University is one of six Australian institutions ranked in the top 100 listed by Times Higher Education.
UNSW Sydney has placed at 83rd globally in the 2025 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings, opens in a new window.
More than 2000 institutions across 115 countries and territories were measured in this year’s rankings, with UNSW the only Group of Eight (Go8) university to improve its position.
“This result is great testament to the work UNSW is doing to not only improve its position among the top teaching institutions in the world, but to advance research excellence in areas critical to society,” UNSW Acting Vice-Chancellor and President, Provost Vlado Perkovic said.
“We remain steadfast in our mission to advance world-class discovery and applied research in key areas such as climate change, quantum computing, new materials manufacturing and cutting-edge health research.”
The THE World University Rankings measure an institution’s performance across five areas: teaching, research environment, research quality, industry, and international outlook.
Professor Bronwyn Fox, UNSW Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research & Enterprise, said it was pleasing to see UNSW perform well in these key areas at a national and global level.
“Our Research Quality and Industry scores continue to improve, and UNSW achieved excellent results in research for overall excellence, influence, strength and income,” she said.
