Job Title: Senior Recruitment Officer for China
Salary: Competitive salary package with performance bonus
Contract: Full-Time, fixed term 3 years in the first instance with the possibility of extension
Location: Beijing or Shanghai
Role Purpose:
Working as part of the Global Recruitment Team (UK, EU, International and Widening Participation) within the Future Students Office (FSO), this post will play a significant role in driving sale growth and enhancing the University of Leicester brand with the aim to achieve student recruitment target in China.
The post holder will work closely with colleagues at Future Students Office of the University of Leicester and Index Education. He/she will report administratively to Index Education, and be line managed by Regional Manager (China) at Future Students Office of the University of Leicester.
• To support the development and delivery of the China Recruitment and Partnership Development Plan with particular focus on China-based activities.
• To support the management of recruitment channels for Chinese students and deliver against the recruitment target for this market.
• To research and operate an effective recruitment and marketing plan to ensure all targets are met within enhancing the University brand in China.
Principal ResponsibilitiesRecruitment
Extensive travel across China to deliver international student recruitment activities, with an expectation 100+ of events and visits yearly including representing the University at exhibitions, visiting agents, international schools, pathway programme providers and institutions in the market to present a positive image of the university.
Plan successful, time and cost-effective recruitment trips to ensure that key objectives and individual targets are met.
Prepare and deliver presentations to prospective students, agents, and parents about a wide range of issues related to Higher Education, including applications, scholarships, accommodations, student life, careers, etc.
Maintain and support current partnerinstitutions to ensure the growth of students’ enrolment from partnership programmes.
Impart constant support and training to the agents and ensure maintaining a friendly rapport with all agents.
Monitor and review the present agent network monthly whilst identifying and advising filtering of non-performing agents.
Conduct spot interview sessions and counsellors training at agent offices on a regular basis.
Provide advice and support to enquirers and applicants to University of Leicester through face-to-face and virtual consultation, e-mail, telephone, and students chatgroups.
Lead on the conversion activities including student interview, pre-book 1-2-1 consultation meeting and call-out conversion campaign to assist with the student enrolments from China.
Identify and develop a network of partner schools, foundation programme providers, agents, and institutions to ensure the University’s undergraduate student recruitment from China.
Identify market challenges and opportunities as they arise.
Marketing
Support the development of University’s social media and digital engagement in China, including daily operation of the University’s Weibo, WeChat, WeChat Video account, LittleRedBook, Douyin, Bilibili channels.
Support the University marketing activities including live-streaming events like graduation ceremonies, campus tours, faculty subjects showcase, digital/offshore China Open Day, global agent workshops, pre-departure activities for offer holders, and other key digital events in the University’s marketing communication calendar.
Support and contribute insights to develop materials focusing on China market promotion including presentation slides, brochures, course and scholarship flyers, event posters/banner and souvenirs.
Assist Regional Manager (China) to review China social media channels and advise the University on related developments in the China market.
Market Development
Identify new potential markets within the prescribed region, developing business plans if necessary.
Assist Regional Manager (China) to identify market challenges, opportunities and risks related to new market development in China.
Assist Regional Manager (China) to maintain and support existing partners relations within China.
Assist Regional Manager (China) to develop and maintain relationships with government bodies including China Scholarship Council and British Council China.
Assist Regional Manager (China) to operate conversion activities from all partner institutions.
Assist Regional Manager (China) to develop the University’s China alumni chapter and manage the engagement with Chinese alumni.
Administration and planning
Provide weekly activities and market review report.
Attend regular team meetings within Team China, international recruitment team, Future Students Office and External Relations Division.
Assist Regional Manager (China) to analyse data and market insight through quarterly market review.
Planning and organizingThe role requires high levels of planning, organization, and self-motivation:
Large scale events are scheduled up to a year in advance, smaller events need to fit within the cycle, and priority given to prioritized stakeholders.
Timing is the key, planning ahead with an awareness of the distinct peaks and troughs of activity is critical.
Within these parameters, the post holder will need to:
Plan and organise own workload to ensure that requirements are met for multiple projects.
Organise the delivery of events within China, including travel, resources, and support materials.
Qualifications, Knowledge and ExperienceEssential
Fluency in Chinese language as native speaker level*
Educated to University Degree standard*
Experience of studying overseas*
Experience of international student recruitment market*
Experience of operating Chinese social media platforms and producingcreative digital content in marketing and promotion*
Desirable
Knowledge of the University of Leicester (as a student and/ or in a professional capacity) *
Pre-existing network of Chinese agents, schools and institutions*
A higher degree specialising in marketing or professional marketing qualifications*
Proven working experience in marketing and customer-facing role at UK institutions’ China offices*
Experience of managing a budget-planning, forecasting and managing actual expenditure within a strict framework*
Proven record in developing new lines of business that deliver commercial success for the institution’s international students recruitment*
Skills, Abilities and CompetenciesEssential
Willingness to work flexibly with limited supervision and remote management, and to be capable of representing the University at recruitment and promotional events, involving some out of hours and weekend working*
Excellent administrative, word-processing and IT skills, especially Word, Excel, and use of the Internet research*
Excellent time management skills in effectively delegate tasks, set deadlines, track progress and solve problems quickly as they occur*
Excellent bi-lingual skills in Chinese and English both written and verbal*
Ability to present to large groups in a confident and persuasive manner*
