Monash University recently welcomed the first of its international students arriving back in Melbourne as part of the Victorian Government’s International Student Arrivals Plan (ISAP).
The Singapore Airlines flight, which included eight students from Singapore, touched down at Melbourne’s Tullamarine Airport on Friday 3 December, with students clearing immigration and customs and making their way to 72 hours of quarantine.
Monash University President and Vice-Chancellor Professor Margaret Gardner AC said the University is excited that the first group of our international students has returned, and we look forward to welcoming back many more students soon.
“We have all very much been looking forward to the day when our students are back in Melbourne and enjoying the Monash experience and vibrant campus life they have been missing.
“This arrival is the culmination of many months of planning, and we are thrilled to be supporting this first cohort as they settle back into life in Australia.”
This arrival represents the first of several flights organised under the ISAP. Additional flights are scheduled from 21 December when more students are expected to return to Australian shores, pending further government decisions on the delayed reopening of international borders.
All students arriving in Victoria under the ISAP are vaccinated and are required to undertake 72 hours of quarantine and return a negative COVID-19 test.
Students undertook quarantine at Monash Residential Services with support provided by Monash University both during and post their quarantine period.
