HKBU has received a generous donation pledge of HK$10 million from Ma Pak Leung Co Ltd for the establishment of the Ma Pak Leung Endowed Professorship in Innovative Neuromedicine.
In appreciation of the beneficence of Ma Pak Leung Co Ltd, a cheque presentation ceremony was held on 8 December. Officiating at the ceremony were Mr Mongkolchai Mavichien (馬泰炎先生), Director of Ma Pak Leung Co Ltd; Dr Clement Chen, Chairman of the Council and the Court at HKBU; and Professor Alexander Wai, President and Vice-Chancellor of HKBU. Other attendees of the ceremony included representatives of Ma Pak Leung Co Ltd, as well as HKBU representatives Professor Rick Wong, Interim Provost; Professor Liu Jiming, Dean of Science; Professor Ken Yung, Ma Pak Leung Endowed Professor in Innovative Neuromedicine; and Mrs Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement and Secretary-General of the HKBU Foundation.
At the ceremony, Professor Wai expressed his deep gratitude to Ma Pak Leung Co Ltd for its tremendous support of HKBU.
Mr Mavichien highly commended Professor Ken Yung’s widely-recognised research excellence. He said that the establishment of the Endowed Professorship will help to strengthen the University’s capacity in the research and development of innovative neuromedicine, and enable it to reach new heights in the international arena.
