The Mauritius International Education Fair will take place in November. The Mauritius education event is usually held in November just after the completion of the HSc examinations. This provides an opportunity to prospective students to gather information about study areas and take early informed decisions.

Reasons to Attend
In 2010, a total of 3,500 Mauritians student opted for higher studies overseas. Participating institutions from Australia, Canada, China, Malaysia, Singapore, Switzerland, UK, USA, and more showcase a wide variety of courses: undergraduate, postgraduate, pathways, technical, professional and vocational.

Market Overview
According to The Mauritian Minister for Tertiary Education, Mauritius has seen an impressive rise in their student enrolment figures; in 2000 15% of 20-24 year olds were pursuing higher education, whilst in 2009 that figure had shot up to 45%. The Mauritian government spends 4.5 billion rupees on the infrastructure of public and private education institutions.

Mauritius, though a small country is a reasonably good market for student recruitment especially to UK universities. Since the Mauritian education system is modelled on the UK system of O and A levels, going to the UK for university education seems logical. Further there is a big demand supply gap prevalent locally both for undergraduate and post graduate education.
Mauritius is an island nation of 1.2 millions inhabitants in the Indian Ocean. Mauritius has a multicultural society in which the cultures blend and mix harmoniously. The population is made up of people of Indian, African, Chinese and French origin.

Fair Outline
This International Education Fair in Mauritius is held at the Labourdonnais Waterfront Hotel in the capital city of Port Louis. Due to its excellent location and easy accessibility the hotel is able to attract many visitors for the fair.

The Mauritius exhibition is committed to forming value-centred future leaders through education that is entrepreneurial inspirit, ethical in focus, and global in orientation.

The fair is well advertised in the local media including press, radio and television. In addition posters and banners are put up all over the island. Personal visits are made by representatives to various schools and higher education establishments to promote the Fair.

The last fair was inaugurated by the Minister of Tertiary Education and the earlier one by the President of the Republic.

In the fair venue a table with two chairs will be provided to each participant. A local volunteer will be provided free of charge. On the final night of the Fair there will be a gala cocktail and dinner for participants. A number of prominent personalities connected with Mauritian education will be invited for this dinner.
