MBA admission requirements

These guidelines outline the usual minimum entry requirements for the MBA. However, these should be seen as a guide only; each application will be considered on its own merit. Before you begin, you should also be able to demonstrate:

Your realistic and clear career goals and how an MBA fits with these.

Your understanding of the distinctive features of the Ashridge MBA.

Your ability to contribute in an environment of small groups and peer learning.

Your ability to work independently within a virtual environment.

Full-Time MBA

Executive MBA (EMBA)

GMAT Applicants are expected to take the Graduate Admissions Test (GMAT) and are responsible for arranging their own tests. The usual minimum score requirement is 550. Ashridge usually asks candidates to take the Ashridge admissions test as an alternative to the GMAT. GMAT is not compulsory for the EMBA programme, but may be requested at the discretion of the Programme Director

Academic ability A degree is not required to study this programme. However, candidates who do possess a degree only require a minimum of 3 years work experience to apply.

Work experience Applicants without a first degree should have at least five years' professional experience, although we also welcome applications from exceptional candidates with an impressive track record and high GMAT score, who have been working for less than five years.

English language skills Required for all candidates whose first language is not English:

TOEFL (iBT) = minimum score of 100

IELTS = minimum score of 7

Pearson Test of English Academic = minimum score of 60

Study Visa

Candidates from countries outside the EU will need to apply for a Tier 4 (General) Visa in order to study the Ashridge Full-time MBA in the UK. For more information on how to apply, visit the UK Border Agency website. Ashridge is recognised by the UK Border Agency as a Highly Trusted Sponsor (listed as Ashridge (Bonar Law) Memorial Trust).

The Ashridge admissions team will be able to support you in applying for your visa by providing the relevant verification of your enrolment onto the MBA. It is strongly recommended that you apply for your visa as soon as you have this information and that you allow a month or more for your visa application to be processed. Prior to application, you will need to ensure you have evidence of the appropriate funds to cover the programme fee and living expenses (funds need to have been in a personal bank account for 28 days prior to submission of the visa application). It is also worth checking with your local visa authority what documentation they need from you, to avoid unnecessary delays and rejection of your application through missing or inadequate documentation.

MBA application process

Download your application form, complete and submit by post or email.

Upon receipt, we will email you a confirmation and if relevant, suggested dates for an interview with an MBA Director.

You attend the interview either via video Skype or ideally in person at Ashridge.

If you are applying for the Executive MBA and do not have the GMAT, you will be asked to complete the Ashridge Admissions Test if you attend your interview in person. This will either be before or after your interview. If you are interviewed via Skype, you will need to take this test before you start the programme.

Depending on the outcome of your interview, we will send you either an offer or rejection letter.

With an offer letter, you will receive an acceptance form which you must sign and return to Ashridge with your deposit of ?,000 (which is deductable from the total fee).

If you are applying for an Ashridge or Santander scholarship, you may apply at this stage before you sign your acceptance form. Details will be sent to you with your offer letter.

Once we receive your signed acceptance form and deposit you are confirmed as a participant and gain access to Virtual Ashridge online to prepare yourself for the programme.
