Professor Yasemin Kor, Cambridge Judge Business School
Board directors’ human and social capital matters for effective board governance. However, does the board’s human and social capital always supplement and strengthen the CEO’s human and social capital? What are synergistic and toxic combinations of board capital and CEO capital? Yasemin Kor, Professor in Strategic Management at Cambridge Judge Business School, will present her research showing that CEO-board combinative effects matter in designing board of directors. Professor Kor will discuss synergistic combinations of board and CEO human and social capital that will promote positive CEO and board interactions, and other combinations that will be detrimental for board governance.

Speaker bio
Professor Kor is currently on the editorial boards of Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Management Studies, Strategic Organization, and International Journal of Strategic Change Management, and during 2009-2011, she served as an Associate Editor for Journal of Management. She is an active member of the Academy of Management BPS Division, and previously served as a Representative at Large for the Corporate Strategy Interest Group at Strategic Management Society.

Prior to joining the School as the Beckwith Chair, Yasemin Y. Kor was an Associate Professor of Management and Moore Research Fellow at the Darla Moore School of Business, University of South Carolina. Before her academic career, Yasemin worked in different companies on stock portfolio management, market analysis, and product management.
